Originally starting as a catalog of used books in 1893, the store moved to the now-iconic 21 Cecil Court in 1901, where it remains today

Additionally, they provide in-store tarot and astrology readings

Watkins publishes Mind Body Spirit magazine, with Etan Ilfeld as its Editor-in-Chief. A multidisciplinary creative and entrepreneur, he has helped expand Watkins’ influence through thoughtful curation, community engagement, and a dynamic events program. The store organizes a wide range of activities—including talks, workshops, book launches, art exhibitions, and webinars—covering topics such as tarot, magic, holistic healing, and rituals. Their book club, available both online and in-store, connects thousands of spiritually minded readers around the world.

In May, I had the opportunity to visit the bookstore, and it was a truly fascinating experience. The place was full of people browsing its aisles, and I took the chance to explore the shelves, packed with books that are hard to find elsewhere and immediately sparked my curiosity. Despite the vast amount of material, everything is thoughtfully organized and beautifully displayed, making it easy to navigate. On top of that, the knowledge and kindness of the staff made the visit even more enriching.
