Ted Norris told me that his interest in pottery began when he was at school in Hawaii, where there were several pottery wheels available for practice. Later, during his college years, he continued to explore this passion, which would eventually become his way of life.

Then came a move to Las Vegas, where Ted continued working with clay. But when the family settled in Camas, he noticed that there was nowhere in the area to practice pottery. So he started in his garage, and eventually began offering classes as a hobby alongside his day job.

Until one day, one of those life-changing opportunities came along: someone was selling a whole workshop, complete with pottery wheels, tools, and lots of clay. Ted decided to follow his heart… and the rest is history.

Today, seven years later, Norris Arts is a welcoming space for anyone curious about pottery — a place to experiment, have fun, and maybe even find a new passion. Ted says he feels grateful and fortunate to wake up each day and do what he loves.

Two years ago, Ted and Anna also launched the Empty Bowls project, a community initiative that combines art and compassion to support local food programs and people in need.

Stories like the Norris family’s move me deeply — people who love what they do and radiate that joy to everyone around them. Let’s keep supporting the artists in our communities. They make our daily lives more beautiful.

Mahalo Ted, Anna and Khan.
