En la Galería General Belgrano, inaugurada el 15 de diciembre de 1951 vive una de esas joyas que resisten al paso del tiempo, la Librería Rodríguez https://www.instagram.com/libreriarodriguezcabildo/ fundada por Enrique Rodríguez poco después de la inauguración de la galería y que el próximo año cumplirá 74 años.

The Galería General Belgrano established on December 15, 1951, is home to one of those gems that stand the test of time: Librería Rodríguez https://www.instagram.com/libreriarodriguezcabildo/Bookstore, founded by Enrique Rodríguez shortly after the gallery’s inauguration and celebrating its 74th anniversary next year.

El local está ubicado justo en el centro de la galería con entradas por la Avenida Cabildo como por Vuelta de Obligado, en un espacio completamente vidriado que funciona
como una gran pecera, para darle un vistazo a los libros de diversos géneros como: arte, narrativa, religión, psicología, literatura infantil entre muchos otros.

The store is located right in the center of the gallery with entrances on Avenida Cabildo and Vuelta de Obligado, in a completely glass-enclosed space that acts
like a large fishbowl, allowing you to browse books of various genres such as art, fiction, religion, psychology, children’s literature, and many others.

Al entrar al local me recibió Claudia, su dueña y me contó parte de la historia que ella misma encarna. De chica venía a visitar a su papá mientras él atendía la librería; con el tiempo, ese ritual se volvió destino. Hace casi 40 años que trabaja aquí: primero acompañándolo, hasta 2014, y desde entonces al frente del negocio.

Claudia creció entre libros, mesas y estantes; en ese universo nació un vínculo casi vital. Con los años, se convirtió en la guardiana de este lugar que ya es un clásico del barrio de Belgrano.

When I entered the store, I was greeted by Claudia, the owner, who told me part of the story that she herself is part of. As a girl, she used to visit her dad while he was working at the bookstore; over time, that ritual became her destiny. She has been working here for almost 40 years: first accompanying him, until 2014, and since then running the business.

Claudia grew up surrounded by books, tables, and shelves; in that universe, an essential bond was formed. Over the years, she became the guardian of this place, which is now a classic in the Belgrano neighborhood.

El interior mantiene ese espíritu clásico de las librerías tradicionales: mesas con libros, agendas, rompecabezas y una variedad de productos relacionados con el papel. También es posible conseguir algunos libros de texto, un rubro que tuvo su auge en la década del 80 y que llegó a ocupar otro local en la misma galería desde 1981 hasta el año 2021. Hoy lo siguen manejando en menor escala y a pedido, fieles a su historia y a sus lectores de siempre.

The interior maintains the classic spirit of traditional bookstores: tables with books, diaries, puzzles, and a variety of paper-related products. It is also possible to find some school books, a category that boomed in the 1980s and occupied another store in the same mall from 1981 to 2021. Today, they continue to operate on a smaller scale and on demand, faithful to their history and their long-time readers.

La charla con Claudia fue cálida y me gustó que fuera interrumpida por clientes que venían en busca de libros y con quienes también tuve la oportunidad de conversar. La Librería Rodríguez es un punto de encuentro y referencia para los lectores del barrio pero también para quienes estén de visita por Belgrano.

The conversation with Claudia was warm, and I liked that it was interrupted by customers who came in looking for books and with whom I also had the opportunity to chat. Librería Rodríguez is a meeting place and reference point for readers in the neighborhood, but also for those visiting Belgrano.
