What you are about to view is a some blended images; images blending photographs with art works – paintings, pottery and photograph. The blended images were created in response to Laura seeking ideas for the next round of artists in the Panda project.

Why? you ask. Well it started with my suggestion to Laura that we could pair artists together and offer them the opportunity to collaborate. From this suggestion, Laura sent me a dozen or so images and I set to work with some software to ‘collaborate’ with the images.

I have taken images of the artists’ works and placed them into some of the photos Sandie and I have taken in recent years. The motivation for each is very different: some were to show the off the work, others were to poke fun or to be whimsical and yet others were to show a contrast. In a number of images, the art work is the star so I deliberately used an understated image.

I hope you enjoy the images and I trust I have not compromised the art works.

Lo que estás a punto de ver son algunas imágenes mezcladas; imágenes que combinan fotografías con obras de arte: pinturas, cerámica y fotos. Las imágenes combinadas se crearon en respuesta a la búsqueda de ideas de Laura para la próxima ronda de artistas en el Panda Project.

Y te preguntarás ¿Por qué? Bueno, comenzó con mi sugerencia a Laura de que podríamos emparejar artistas y ofrecerles la oportunidad de colaborar. A partir de esta sugerencia, Laura me envió unas cuantas imágenes y me puse a trabajar con un software para «intervenir» las mismas.

Tomé imágenes de las obras de los artistas y las coloqué en algunas de las fotos que Sandie y yo tomamos en los últimos años. La motivación para cada proyecto fue muy diferente: algunos fueron para mostrar simplemente el trabajo, otros para divertirnos o ser caprichosos y otros para mostrar el contraste. Las obras de arte son las estrellas, así que usé deliberadamente una imagen sobria.

Espero que disfrutes del resultado y confío en no haber comprometido el trabajo artístico de los participantes.

This one is in The Mansion at Bletchley Park, Buckinghamshire. This was the codebreakers headquarters during WWII, a great story and a fascinating place to visit.

The flowers are in a gallery in Brussels. Sandie was happy to keep herself in the gallery image as it gave it scale.

The centre of the mandala is on a church ceiling in Passau, Germany (possibly St Stephens) and the mandala photo was only of part of the painting

The statue is Il Commendatore (Cloak of Conscience) by Anna Chromy and it sits outside the Estates Theatre in Prague. The statue is one of many versions of the Cloak of Conscience and her inspiration was one hand was supposed to be the experiencing of the mysterious, but is also said to be representative of harmony; harmony of man, nature and all created.

The building is a mahout’s hut at an elephant sanctuary near Luang Prabang, Laos. It is so the mahout’s can stay near their elephants at night.

The Devil’s Throat in Iguazu Falls. It is from the Argentina side of course. I was worried about playing with another photographers images but I think that looks pretty good.

Quiero agradecer la idea que me acercó Brian para armar un proyecto conjunto que coincidiera con el cierre de la tercera temporada de Amigas y Amigos Artistas y además con el cumpleaños del Panda Project.

Sandie y él hicieron un trabajo enorme y estoy agradecida por los resultados. Ambos son magníficos fotógrafos.

I want to thank Brian for the idea to put together a collective project that coincided with the closing of 3rd season of Artistic Friends and also the birthday of the Panda Project.

He and Sandie did a fantastic job and I am grateful for the results. Both are great photographers.

I hope the artists Guests are surprised and enjoy seeing their work from another perspective.
