En mayo del 2024 visité la librería Asunto Impreso https://www.instagram.com/asuntoimpreso/ llena de curiosidad al ver publicaciones, fotos y recomendaciones hechas por amigas y amigos relacionadas al centenario del Pasaje Rivarola; una joya arquitectónica con edificios de estilo francés en perfecta simetría ubicada entre las calles Mitre y Perón en el Barrio de San Nicolás.

In May 2024 I visited the bookstore Asunto Impreso https://www.instagram.com/asuntoimpreso/ full of curiosity when I looked at posts, photos and recommendations made by friends related to the centenary of Pasaje Rivarola; an architectural jewel with French style buildings in perfect symmetry located between Mitre and Perón streets in the neighborhood of San Nicolás.

Por aquel entonces, la idea de escribir sobre librerías independientes apenas comenzaba a tomar forma y me pareció interesante descubrir en esa calle con estilo parisino a Asunto Impreso; un refugio para los amantes del arte y la literatura, con una historia que combina creatividad, pasión por los libros y un compromiso con la cultura.

At that time, the idea of writing about independent bookstores was just beginning to take shape and I found it interesting to discover Asunto Impreso on that Parisian-style street; a haven for art and literature lovers, with a history that combines creativity, passion for books and a commitment to culture.

Quedé impresionada por la elegancia de su fachada con vidrieras que invitan a detenerse e inmediatamente querer pasar. Una vez dentro se destacan dos imponentes estanterías: una dedicada a libros de arquitectura y diseño y la otra al arte, en especial a la fotografía.

I was impressed by the elegance of its façade with stained glass windows that invite you to stop and immediately want to go in. Once inside, two imposing shelves stand out: one dedicated to architecture and design books and the other to art, especially photography.

Las mesas dispuestas en el centro exhiben una selección cuidada de novedades literarias y clásicos. Además es posible encontrar las postales artísticas de Fotofolio. Asunto Impreso es un espacio para descubrir y dejarse sorprender por publicaciones que no suelen encontrarse en librerías comerciales.

The tables in the center display a careful selection of literary novelties and classics. It is also possible to find the artistic postcards of Fotofolio. Asunto Impreso is a place to discover and be surprised by publications that are not usually found in commercial bookstores.

Fernando, el librero de Asunto Impreso, me recibió con mucha amabilidad y me hizo sentir rápidamente bienvenida. Su vasto conocimiento sobre libros, sumado a los años de experiencia trabajando en la librería, lo convierten en un verdadero conocedor, no sólo de la literatura, sino también de la historia de esta librería que el próximo año cumplirá tres décadas de vida.

Fernando, the bookseller at Asunto Impreso, received me with great kindness and made me feel very welcome. His vast knowledge of books, combined with years of experience working in the bookstore, make him a true connoisseur, not only of literature, but also of the history of this bookstore that next year will celebrate three decades of life.

Asunto Impreso nació en 1995 como una librería especializada en arte visual, ocupando un espacio en el Centro Cultural Recoleta. Su fundador, Guido Indij, fotógrafo y editor, le dio una identidad única al enfocarse en temas de arquitectura, diseño, arte y fotografía. En 2016  la librería se trasladó al espacio que ocupa actualmente en Pasaje Rivarola 115 en el barrio de San Nicolás.

Asunto Impreso was born in 1995 as a bookstore specializing in visual art, occupying a space in the Centro Cultural Recoleta. Its founder, Guido Indij, a photographer and editor, gave it a unique identity by focusing on architecture, design, art and photography. In 2016 the bookstore moved to the space it currently occupies at Pasaje Rivarola 115 in the San Nicolás neighborhood.

Pasaron los años y Asunto Impreso creció y comenzó a editar y distribuir libros. Hoy cuentan con Factotum Ediciones https://www.instagram.com/factotumed/ que publica ficción escrita por autores argentinos, Interzona https://www.instagram.com/interzonaeditora/ que se ocupa de narrativa y ensayo y Marea Editorial https://www.instagram.com/mareaeditorial/ de temas relacionados con las ciencias sociales e historia.

La Marca Editora https://www.instagram.com/lamarcaeditora_/ se enfoca en la publicación de libros de estética y La Marca Terrible https://www.instagram.com/lamarcaterrible/ cuenta con una interesante colección de libros infantiles. 

En la Marca Terrible encontré una colección que más que infantil es para nostálgicos entre los que me encuentro en primera fila 🙂 . Los libros simulan ser discos simples, con la letra de una canción del rock nacional y con ilustraciones de diferentes artistas plásticos. Elegí el El anillo del Capitán Beto de Luis Alberto Spinetta ilustrado por Istvansch, por el que tuve un flechazo apenas verlo 😍

As the years went by, Asunto Impreso grew and began to publish and distribute books. Today they have Factotum Ediciones https://www.instagram.com/factotumed/, which publishes fiction written by Argentine authors, Interzona https://www.instagram.com/interzonaeditora/, which publishes narrative and essays, and Marea Editorial https://www.instagram.com/mareaeditorial/, which publishes books related to social sciences and history.

La Marca Editora https://www.instagram.com/lamarcaeditora_/ focuses on the publication of aesthetics books and La Marca Terrible https://www.instagram.com/lamarcaterrible/ has an interesting collection of children’s books.

At Marca Terrible I found a collection that is more for nostalgic people, among which I am in the first row 🙂 . The books pretend to be simple records, with the lyrics of a national rock song and illustrations by different artists. I chose El anillo del Capitán Beto by Luis Alberto Spinetta illustrated by Istvansch, for which I had a crush as soon as I saw it 😍

Asunto Impreso es, además de una librería, un espacio cultural donde se organizan tanto presentaciones de libros como talleres de lectura entre otras actividades.

El 13 de diciembre de 2023, en el marco del inicio de las celebraciones por los 100 años del Pasaje Rivarola, se realizó un brindis entre los vecinos y la presentación de «El arte está en casa» (Editorial Planeta https://www.instagram.com/editorialplaneta/) en Asunto Impreso. Este es el segundo libro de Mariela Ivanier https://www.instagram.com/marielaivanier/ que reúne el testimonio de 141 mujeres y su vínculo con el arte. El libro está editado por Gabriela Comte https://www.instagram.com/gabys2001/

Además, este libro fue presentado en múltiples espacios, tanto de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires, como otras ciudades de Argentina y también en el exterior: Nueva York, Madrid, Punta del Este.

In addition to being a bookstore, Asunto Impreso is a cultural space where book presentations and reading workshops, as well as other activities, are held.

On December 13, 2023, as part of the beginning of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary of Pasaje Rivarola, a toast was held among neighbors and the presentation of “El arte está en casa” (Art is at home)(Editorial Planeta https://www.instagram.com/editorialplaneta/) at Asunto Impreso. This is the second book by Mariela Ivanier https://www.instagram.com/marielaivanier/ that gathers the testimony of 141 women and their link with art. The book was edited by Gabriela Comte https://www.instagram.com/gabys2001/

In addition, this book was presented in multiple venues, both in the city of Buenos Aires, as well as in other cities of Argentina and also abroad: New York, Madrid, Punta del Este.

En julio de 2024, Mariela Ivanier https://www.instagram.com/verbo_ar/ volvió a realizar una presentación de «El Arte está en casa» en Asunto Impreso https://www.instagram.com/asuntoimpreso/ y el Café Rivarola https://www.instagram.com/caferivarola/; esta vez en conjunto con Mariana Jasper https://www.instagram.com/play_mai/, quien también presentó el suyo titulado: “Pequeño cuaderno de margaritas y otras flores silvestres”. El encuentro reunió a amigos y colegas.

Desde que Mariela Ivanier y Asunto Impreso conviven en este Pasaje único de la Ciudad, han forjado un vínculo entrañable que les permite llevar adelante interesantes actividades culturales.

The meeting brought together friends and colleagues.

Since Mariela Ivanier and Asunto Impreso have been living together in this unique passage of the city, they have forged a close bond that allows them to carry out interesting cultural activities.
