During my trip through the Serengeti, I saw sunsets that looked as if they had been painted by an artist: pink skies, the silhouettes of trees cut against the horizon, and a plain that seemed to stretch on forever. When the sun disappeared, darkness fell. The landscape stopped speaking through colors and began to speak through sounds—and through the imagination.

The sunset at the Covadonga Lakes was the perfect way to end a day exploring this corner of the European Peaks.

Coming out of the pandemic… my first “Mirar Miradores” project by Marga Fabbri, which brings together lovers of the city to contemplate and appreciate Buenos Aires from above… That day, more than ever, I loved the freedom of feeling the breeze from the banks of the Río de La Plata, the enveloping and majestic atmosphere of that unique postcard view that symbolizes our Historic District, crowned by a dome and a sky that bear witness to the fact that we are social beings who need physical contact with others to feel fulfilled. Thanks to that sky of blue and white, I lived once again with all my soul!

For me, photographing the sky is about capturing the fleeting nature of things and the calm: every sunrise and every sunset is unique.
It never repeats itself.
The clouds shift, the light comes and goes, and the wind stirs everything.
And in that fleeting moment, I find peace.
I look up and remember just how vast the universe is…
and how small and fortunate I am to be able to see it; and even more so to be able to photograph it by the sea….always the sea.

When my great-aunt Yiye died a few years ago, I asked for her photos. I knew that if I didn’t take them, they’d end up in the trash. My mom gave me not only boxes of slides and photo albums but also several of Yiye’s cameras. With one of those cameras and an expired roll of Solaris film, I took the photo of the lenticular clouds from my window in Ushuaia during the winter of 2024. Whoever scanned the negative didn’t clean the scanner properly, leaving some strange little marks on the image.

Antarctica, the Ross Ice Shelf and the Ross Sea in January 2026.

This was the last sunset we saw heading south to Antarctica, the Ross Ice Shelf and the Ross Sea in January 2026. We had just crossed from the Southern Ocean to the Antarctic Ocean and from this point onwards we would have continuous daylight. It captures the vastness of the oceans, 3 days from Hobart and 2 days from the nearest point of the Antarctic continent.

On a cruise specifically to see the Aurora Borealis, the start was slow. In Tromsø, a paid excursion touted as an Aurora opportunity was 90 mins standing in the open at -10C, watching Orion, Triangulum Australis and Pleiades blink in a sea of stars over a well-lit Laavu (Sami tent), was a no show … well, other than the occasional faint green local haze.

Next night, in port Tromsø, the streams of green danced over the city and over the ship, and the top deck provided an observation platform for the overhead display.

Alta, Noruega – Enero 2025

But the following night, in port in Alta, way up at 70 North, the sky lit up, drawing the crowd out the front of the Observation Lounge. The aurora danced and swirled over the clouds, the distant settlements and the runway
