En el barrio de Acassuso, bajando por una de las barrancas que se abren hacia el río, hay un lugar que se siente como un secreto bien guardado. Una casa donde, desde hace seis años, funciona la librería independiente La Pieza Libros y Arte. https://www.instagram.com/lapiezalibrosyarte/

Fue Alejandra Pancha Francisco https://www.instagram.com/murmullosdepancha/, una amiga y conocedora de librerías y espacios culturales, quien me recomendó visitar La Pieza esta librería fundada por Florencia y cuidada con dedicación junto con su hija Bebi.

Hace unos días volví para participar en un taller teórico-práctico organizado por Andrea, de Mochuelo Libros https://www.instagram.com/mochuelolibros/.

Entrar nuevamente a ese salón —con su aroma inconfundible, la mesa rodeada de mujeres atentas y curiosas— fue una experiencia profundamente conmovedora. Se generó comunidad. El intercambio fluyó con naturalidad; compartir una actividad, trabajar con las manos, descubrir artistas, conversar sin apuro… todo eso dejó en mí una sensación de plenitud. Eso es lo que logra este lugar.

Conversé con Florencia, creadora de esta librería, y me contó que La Pieza nació de su propio recorrido. Durante años dio talleres en distintos espacios, hasta que en un momento sintió la necesidad de ese “cuarto propio” del que habla Virginia Woolf. Así fue como decidió crear una librería que escapa a lo convencional: un espacio puertas adentro, íntimo, donde es posible encontrar libros de editoriales pequeñas e independientes, muchos de ellos cercanos a verdaderas obras de arte.

En sus estanterías no hay listas de “lo que hay que leer” ni títulos repetidos en todas las librerías. Hay, en cambio, libros elegidos con cuidado: aquellos que ella y su hija Bebi https://www.instagram.com/itacadepapel/ leen, disfrutan y desean recomendar. Lo que ofrecen es, sobre todo, escucha. Una atención genuina a los intereses de quienes llegan, para acercarles lecturas que dialoguen con cada búsqueda.

Florencia cuenta que la lectura es fundamental en su vida, una forma de habitar otras existencias, de vivir muchas vidas a través de los personajes. Desde La Pieza organizan talleres de lectura y escritura para adultos y niños, y también propuestas que combinan arte y literatura. Además, el espacio se abre a encuentros privados donde lo cultural es el eje.

Un lugar que invita a ser visitado: un pequeño oasis en la zona norte de Buenos Aires, donde el tiempo parece transcurrir de otra manera. Un refugio para desconectarse y, al mismo tiempo, conectarse con otras historias a través de los libros.

In the neighborhood of Acassuso, walking down one of the bluffs that open toward the river, there’s a place that feels like a well-kept secret. A house where, for the past six years, the independent bookstore La Pieza Libros y Arte https://www.instagram.com/lapiezalibrosyarte/ has been quietly thriving.

It was Alejandra Pancha Francisco https://www.instagram.com/murmullosdepancha/, a friend and connoisseur of bookstores and cultural spaces, who recommended that I visit La Pieza, a bookstore founded by Florencia and lovingly run by her and her daughter Bebi.

A few days ago, I returned to take part in a theory-practice workshop organized by Andrea from Mochuelo Libros https://www.instagram.com/mochuelolibros/.

Stepping back into that room—with its distinctive aroma, the table surrounded by attentive and curious women—was a deeply moving experience. A sense of community was created. The exchange flowed naturally; sharing an activity, working with our hands, discovering artists, chatting without rushing… all of that left me with a feeling of fulfillment. That is what this place achieves.

I chatted with Florencia, the founder of this bookstore, and she told me that La Pieza was born out of her own journey. For years, she taught workshops in various venues, until at some point she felt the need for that “ A room of one’s own” that Virginia Woolf speaks of. That’s how she decided to create a bookstore that defies convention: an intimate, secluded space where you can find books from small, independent publishers, many of which are practically works of art.

On their shelves, you won’t find “must-read” lists or titles that appear in every bookstore. Instead, there are carefully selected books: ones that she and her daughter Bebi https://www.instagram.com/itacadepapel/read, enjoy, and want to recommend. Above all, what they offer is a listening ear—a genuine interest in the interests of those who visit, so they can introduce them to books that resonate with each person’s search.

Florencia says that reading is essential to her life—a way to step into other people’s lives and live many lives through the characters. At La Pieza, they organize reading and writing workshops for adults and children, as well as activities that combine art and literature. The space also hosts private gatherings centered around culture.

A place that invites you to visit: a little oasis in northern Buenos Aires, where time seems to pass differently. A refuge to disconnect and, at the same time, connect with other stories through books.
