I met Jennifer Foran @jennifer_foran and Andrea Lopez @andrealopezgallery at an exhibition they did last year with Magdalene Lima-Fiallos @giftsofcreation in Portland. I was very fortunate that all three wanted to participate in Artistic Friends and this somehow deepened our relationship 🙂 .
Magdalene moved to Florida and I continued to visit Andrea and Jennifer at other shows. This weekend the Portland Open Studios @pdxopenstudios will start and both of them will be exhibiting together and I wanted to take the opportunity to invite them back to this space. They both gladly accepted 🙂
Conocí a Jennifer Foran @jennifer_foran y a Andrea López @andrealopezgallery en una exhibición que realizaron el año pasado junto a Magdalene Lima-Fiallos @giftsofcreation en Portland. Fui muy afortunada de que las tres quisieran participar de Amigas y Amigos Artistas y esto de alguna manera profundizó nuestra relación 🙂 .
Magdalene se mudó a Florida y yo continué visitando a Andrea y Jennifer en otras muestras. Este fin de semana comenzará el Portland Open Studios @pdxopenstudios en el cual ambas expondrán juntas y quise aprovechar la ocasión para invitarlas nuevamente a este espacio. Ambas aceptaron gustosas 🙂
The event will take place on October 8, 9, 15 and 16 between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. at 3643 NE 47th Ave, Portland.
This year marks the 24th anniversary of this festival where it is possible to visit a large number of local artists in their places of work. If you are near Portland I strongly recommend you not to miss it if you like art.

Este año se cumplen 24 años de la realización de este festival donde es posible visitar a una gran cantidad de artistas locales en sus lugares de trabajo. Si estás cerca de Portland te recomiendo fuertemente que no te lo pierdas si te gusta el arte.
Jennifer Foran‘s work @jennifer_foran is focused on nature with trees, water and a color palette that transports you to the forests and landscapes of the PNW.
Jennifer works on wood using wood stain and acrylic paint. The wood in many of her works is carved which gives realism to these trees because of their texture.
El trabajo de Jennifer Foran @jennifer_foran está centrado en la naturaleza con árboles, agua y una paleta de color que te transportan a los bosques y paisajes del PNW.
Jennifer trabaja sobre madera utilizando barnices y pintura acrílica. La madera en muchas de sus obras está tallada lo que le da realismo a esos árboles por su textura.
And about Andrea López @andrealopezgallery I want to leave you with her words where she talks about her inspiration and creative processes.
«My technique is mixed media which means I use a variety of materials including paper or collage, acrylic paint, charcoal, acrylic ink and sometimes pastels or crayons. I generally use canvases for painting and sometimes wooden surfaces as well. My subjects include painting animals but also old objects that remind me of my childhood, like the typewriter, the refrigerator or the radio. I like to paint animals full of colors and magical elements. I believe that the child in me is the one who chooses the subjects and who always wanted to be an artist. My color palette is very diverse but I always go for vibrant colors. I love blues and oranges. I am always looking for complementary color combinations and the addition of contrast in all my paintings. Color has a very important emotional element in people’s lives. It can be sober as well as joyful and for me color is a way to inspire and bring joy in others.»
Y sobre Andrea López @andrealopezgallery quiero dejarte con sus palabras donde habla sobre su inspiración y procesos creativos.
«Mi técnica es mixta lo que quiere decir que uso una variedad de materiales que incluyen papel o collage, pintura acrílica, carbonilla, tinta acrílica y a veces pasteles o crayolas. Generalmente uso lienzos para pintar y a veces también superficies de madera. Mis temas incluyen pintar animales pero también objetos antiguos que me recuerdan mi niñez, cómo la máquina de escribir, el refrigerador o la radiola. Me gusta pintar los animales llenos de colores y elementos mágicos. Creo que la niña que existe en mi es la que elige los temas y quién siempre quiso ser artista. Mi paleta de colores es muy variada pero siempre me inclino por los colores vibrantes. Me encantan los azules y los naranjas. Siempre estoy buscando la combinación de colores complementarios y la adición del contraste en todas mis pinturas. El color tiene un elemento emocional muy importante en la vida de las personas. Puede ser sobrio como alegre y para mí el color es una manera de inspirar y de traer gozo en los demás»
