Poco a poco empezamos a viajar nuevamente, todo es bastante diferente a como solía ser pero la alegría de volver a pisar un aeropuerto y subirse a un avión fue maravillosa. Hacía más de un año que no viajaba a una ciudad grande y la elección fue de las mejores hechas.

Little by little we began to travel again, everything is quite different from how it used to be but the joy of stepping back into an airport and getting on a plane was wonderful. It had been more than a year since I traveled to a big city and the choice was one of the best made.

Chicago fue una de las ciudades que siempre quise visitar. Tal vez porque en los 90 fui una fan de la NBA especificamente de los Chicago Bulls de la mano de un hombre que podía volar. ¿Te parece exagerado? Mira la foto de Michael Jordan o alguno de sus videos y no vas a tener dudas 😉

Chicago was one of the cities that I always wanted to visit. Maybe because in the 90s I was a fan of the NBA specifically of the Chicago Bulls by the hand of a man who could fly. Does it seem exaggerated? Look at the photo of Michael Jordan or one of his videos and you will have no doubts 😉

Desde que vivo en Estados Unidos venía insistiendo en visitarla y el viaje que hicimos por cuatro días a principio de mayo, cubrió esas expectativas ampliamente. Nunca pensé que podía enamorarme de esa manera y es uno de esos lugares a los que me gustaría volver porque quedó mucho por explorar. Seguramente cuando leas esto no vas a estar de acuerdo conmigo pero mi sensación fue que no tiene nada que envidiarle a New York y es mucho decir porque para mi New York es una de mis ciudades favoritas en el mundo.

Since I live in the United States, I have insisted on visiting and the trip we made for four days at the beginning of May covered those expectations widely. I never thought I could fall in love that way and it is one of those places I would like to return because there was so much left to explore. Surely when you read this you will not agree with me but my feeling was that it has nothing to envy to New York City and it is saying a lot because for me New York is one of my favorite cities in the world.

Voy a dar algunas razones para explicar por qué es una ciudad para visitar y te aseguro que no tengo ninguna comisión por la recomendación… aunque podría estar lista para recibir sponsors 😉

Si sos fanático de la arquitectua tenes que ponerla en tu lista de favoritas. Edificios modernos y altísimos conviven con los más antiguos que en su momento también fueron de vanguardia. Y hay algo que es muy interesante, el viento fuerte que viene del Lago Michigan es algo constante en la ciudad y cuando uno ve esos edificios gigantes, donde en sus vidrios se reflejan unos con otros es imposible no pensar en el gran trabajo de ingeniería sumado con el diseño hecho en cada uno. El conjunto da como resultado una ciudad en la que todo el tiempo estás mirando para arriba con admiración.

I will give some reasons to explain why it is a city to visit and I assure you that I do not have any commission for the recommendation … although it could be ready to receive sponsors 😉

If you are a fan of architecture you have to put it on your list. Modern and very tall buildings coexist with the oldest ones that were also avant-garde at the time. And there is something that is very interesting, the strong wind that comes from Lake Michigan is something constant in the city and when you see those giant buildings, where their glass reflects each other, it is impossible not to think about the great engineering work added with the design done on each one. The whole results in a city in which you are looking up all the time with admiration.

Para hacer el recorrido arquitectónico hay tres paseos obligatorios: uno es caminar la ciudad y en lo posible tomar algún paseo con guías. Otra manera es hacer uno de los tours en barco por el rio Chicago (ya te mostraré más en el próximo artículo) y la otra es subir a las torres más altas de la ciudad como la Willis Tower con 108 pisos y si te animas pararte en el Skydeck, que es una plataforma transparente donde podes experimentar la altura de una forma diferente. Otro edificio que te recomiendo es el 360 Chicago, 100 pisos con vistas a toda la ciudad por sus diferentes ventanales. Allí tienen algo llamado «tilt» que es una plataforma también transparente donde uno se apoya, se mueve hacia adelante y uno tiene cierta sensación de caída, nada grave, no te asustes 🙂 . Mi consejo es en estas cosas nunca mires directamente hacia abajo y de esa manera vas disfrutar de la experiencia y no padecerla 😉

To do the architectural tour there are three mandatory tours: one is to walk the city and if possible take a walk with guides. Another way is to do one of the boat tours on the Chicago River (I will show you more in the next article) and the other is to climb the highest towers in the city such as the Willis Tower with 108 floors and if you dare to stand on the Skydeck, which is a transparent platform where you can experience height in a different way. Yendo hacia la torre de 360 caminé por la Avenida Michigan donde las marcas más caras tienen sus tiendas. Durante el paseo yo que me concentré en las flores que estaban decorando los canteros que me parecieron preciosas. Quizás también un poco pensando en mis Panda Projects con flores 🙂

Going to the 360 tower I walked down Michigan Avenue where the most expensive brands have their stores. During the walk, I concentrated on the flowers that were decorating the walksides , which I found beautiful. Maybe also a little thinking about my Panda Projects with flowers 🙂

Otra cosa que recomiendo hacer, si el clima lo permite, ya que los inviernos son muy crudos y los veranos demasiado calurosos, es çbuscar algún bar o restaurant y disfrutar de de las vistas sentado en alguna de las terrazas. Una belleza.

Another thing that I recommend doing, if the weather permits it, since the winters are very harsh and the summers are too hot, is to look for a bar or restaurant and enjoy the views while sitting on one of the terraces. Beautiful.
