Conocí a Marga Fabbri @margafabbri como vengo conociendo últimamente a muchas de las personas que se suman a este proyecto de Amigas y Amigos Artistas, a través de otros artistas. A fines de septiembre cuando fui a visitar a Mónica Fuksman* @monicafuksman a una de sus muestras en @arpoint_arevalo, comenté que estaba escribiendo en las Crónicas Porteñas** sobre las cúpulas de Buenos Aires y @adrit_fotografias fue quien sugirió que debía conocer a Marga.

Comencé a seguirla en Instagram y cuando vi que organizaba una de sus actividades de MIRARMIRADORES me sumé sin dudarlo. ¡Y lo bien que hice! Ahí me encontré con una persona súper apasionada por lo que hace, donde invita a entrar a edificios casi imposibles de visitar por tu cuenta y a dibujar, a pintar, a sacar fotos … básicamente a disfrutar de la experiencia de mirar todo con mucha curiosidad y dejándose sorprender por el ambiente. Y realmente esas dos horas fueron mágicas. Una experiencia que me resultó muy placentera y que recomiendo hacer 🙂

I met Marga Fabbri @margafabbri as I have been meeting lately many of the people who join this Artistic Friends project, through other artists. At the end of September when I went to visit Mónica Fuksman* @monicafuksman to one of her exhibitions at @arpoint_arevalo, I commented that I was writing in Crónicas Porteñas** about the domes of Buenos Aires and @adrit_fotografias was the one who suggested that I should meet Marga.

I started following her on Instagram and when I saw that she was organizing one of her activities MIRARMIRADORES I joined without hesitation. And how well I did! There I met a person super passionate about what she does, inviting you to enter buildings almost impossible to visit on your own and to draw, to paint, to take pictures … basically to enjoy the experience of looking at everything with a lot of curiosity and letting yourself be surprised by the environment. And really those two hours were magical. An experience that I found very pleasant and that I recommend to do 🙂

Luego quedamos en encontrarnos en su estudio donde tuve la oportunidad de conocer a Mini, su gatita que posa para las fotos 🙂 y conversar sobre su historia y ver sus trabajos en vivo. Me siento profundamente agradecida porque me haya abierto las puertas de su espacio de trabajo con tanta generosidad y que haya querido participar en el proyecto de Amigas y Amigos Artistas. Then we arranged to meet at her studio where I had the opportunity to meet Mini, her kitty who poses for the photos 🙂 and talk about her story and see her artwork. I feel deeply grateful that she opened the doors of her work space with such generosity and that she wanted to participate in the Artistic Friends project. I leave you now with her words.

Nací en la Ciudad de Bs As. De pequeña, pasaba las tardes en el taller de mi abuelo materno, el escultor y profesor de dibujo Rómulo Arellano. En la FADU (Facultad de Arquitectura y Urbanismos de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, cursé la materia de Dibujo y Representación con la Profesora de Bellas Artes Martha Rodríguez Carrera y la Arquitecta y Artista Plástica Raquel Lauría. Tomé clases de acuarela con los maestros Sergio Merayo y Eduardo Cervera y soy autodidacta en la técnica del acrílico sobre tela.

I was born in the city of Buenos Aires. As a child, I spent my afternoons in the studio of my maternal grandfather, the sculptor and drawing teacher Romulo Arellano. At the FADU (Faculty of Architecture and Urbanism from University of Buenos Aires, I took the subject of Drawing and Representation with the Fine Arts Professor Martha Rodríguez Carrera and the Architect and Plastic Artist Raquel Lauría. I took watercolor classes with teachers Sergio Merayo and Eduardo Cervera and I am self-taught in watercolor technique of acrylic on canvas.

Cursé el primer año de la Carrera de Restauración de Bienes Culturales en el IUNA. Antes de terminar mi carrera de Arquitectura, realicé una experiencia como pasante, en un equipo de restauradores y conservadores en Salvador, Bahía, Brasil, que se hallaba inmersa en varias obras con referencia al Programa de Protección del Patrimonio Cultural de la UNESCO y tomé contacto con el concepto y la práctica de la Conservación del Patrimonio, impactando esto fuertemente en mi perfil profesional.

I studied the first year of the Cultural Heritage Restoration Career at IUNA. Before finishing my degree in Architecture, I did an internship experience in a team of restorers and conservators in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, which was immersed in several works with reference to UNESCO’s Cultural Heritage Protection Program and I came into contact with the concept and practice of Heritage Conservation, which had a strong impact on my professional profile.

Luego de recibirme, comienzo a pintar y a generar mi propio proyecto de Rescate del Patrimonio Arquitectónico de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires a través del Arte. Se trata de visitar edificios, investigar y documentar para luego volcar todo en la tela, siempre con una mirada y en estilo naif; producir pinturas de los sitios seleccionados, presentado una imagen restaurada, y gestionando la difusión de las mismas para llegar a la comunidad, generando conciencia de la necesidad de valorar nuestra herencia cultural. Conocer para querer, querer para cuidar.

After graduating, I began to paint and generate my own project to rescue the architectural heritage of the city of Buenos Aires through art. It is about visiting buildings, researching and documenting and then pouring everything on the canvas, always with a naive look and style; producing paintings of the selected sites, presenting a restored image, and managing the dissemination of the same to reach the community, generating awareness of the need to value our cultural heritage. Know to love, love to care.

Luego de 20 años de este trabajo, y ahora que mucho va siendo restaurado gracias a distintos Programas de Recuperación y Puesta en valor de Fachadas por parte del GCBA, Programa Mecenazgo e iniciativas privadas, es cuando tenemos que agudizar la mirada, recalcular el enfoque para seguir valorando y cuidando nuestras bellezas arquitectónicas, así nace MIRARMIRADORES – DIBUJAR ENTRE CÚPULAS. Es un proyecto que invita a observar para dibujar, y dibujar para sentir, pero sobre todo a vivir la experiencia del espacio arquitectónico y patrimonial, con la idea de entrar en Edificios habitualmente vedados al público general, con tiempo para dibujarlos y disfrutarlos. El dibujar como excusa para entrar, vivir, tocar, mirar y registrar el Patrimonio con todos los sentidos.

After 20 years of this work, and now that much is being restored thanks to various programs of recovery and enhancement of facades by the GCBA, Patronage Program and private initiatives, is when we have to sharpen the look, recalculate the approach to continue valuing and caring for our architectural beauties, so MIRARMIRADORES – DIBUJAR ENTRE CÚPULAS (LOOKING LOOKS – DRAWING BETWEEN DOME) is born. It is a project that invites to observe to draw, and draw to feel, but above all to live the experience of architectural and patrimonial space, with the idea of entering buildings usually closed to the general public, with time to draw and enjoy them. Drawing as an excuse to enter, live, touch, look and register the heritage with all the senses.
